So, I'm all settled and based in York now. It's fantastic. An amazing historical city. Got a new job as an assistant manager of a coffee shop; life is cushy right now. God, my journal entries are so bland these days; I'll do a *proper* update when I feel less tired.

Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For |
] |
Hey guys. I don't quite know when I will be back online as my computer has broken down and I haven't the money to fix it. Something about an unmountable boot volume, whatever that means.
I saw Alfie at the cinema last night, it was almost exactly the same as the original and therefore pointless. Its only saving grace was Jude Law, who could probably charm the pants off a Victorian aristocrat.
Is it just me or have dogs totally overtaken mainly naked women as the advertiser's choice of pleasant but totally irrelevant adornment? Women in the raw are still a staple of ads where there is a vague connection with the product: in underwear for any ad to do with underwear; a lot of visable skin in anything to do with skincare; "ironic" references to the 1970s might occur in a car ad, where a leggy, female individual could be draped over a shiny new vehicle in a noddish, winking, "chortle, this is how we used to sell cars" way. But the classic formula, "we're selling this thing, here's a picture of it; damn, it's a rotivator, it doesn't look very interesting; or maybe it can't even be rendered in picture form, maybe it's insurance, or a phone network, or a way of life attached to financial planning; let's add an extra image to indicate the warm feelings you'll experience once you've bought the product": that always used to be a woman. It wasn't even nessarily a naked one--sometimes it had kids or an apron or something--but it was a woman. And now it's a dog. A dog with a wet nose, to mimic the sensation of rightness and joy you get from knowing you'll have good reception on your phone wherever you go. Or a dog who wants a walk to signify the wholesome goodness of a health plan designed for you. Always a dog. What's that about?

I have decided to do a BA in English Lit and Film Studies at Leeds Trinity and All Saints College. But, before that, I am taking a mini-course (Two weeks) in horror culture studies at Bradford Uni. Anyone want to join me? It's £15 and it's for two Saturdays in November.
Also, I've been persuaded to go back to college but I NEED £300 or I could end up in prison. How the fuck can I get this amount in about a week?

Over the Rainbow - Mariah Carey |

Last night, I had the revolutionary idea that I would quit smoking. Twelve hours later, I surrended myself to the cancer sticks of doom. I can't believe this, I never actually considered myself addicted to them; I presumed I could stop anytime I wanted. Does anybody know...if I was to switch to ultra-lights, would it still be as bad for me as smoking ordianry cigarettes?

Carpenters - Solitaire |

If I were to do a cover of a Carpenters song, all rocked-up to modern standards, would anybody be interested in hearing it?
(Sorry--I have a sudden Carpenters obsession because Bunny, my friend in the car accident, has asked me to make a CD of them for her whilst she's recovering, and I'm being forced to listen to them. Scary thing is, I actually like them.)

Oh, no. My friend from school, Bunny, has been involved in a car crash. The driver of the car, her boyfriend, suffered nothing but minor whiplash; but Bunny has a heap of broken bones. I'm going into hospital today to see her.
fuckfuckfuck, I was supposed to go into Leeds today and meet Lex. I don't have ANY credit on my phone to tell him to cancel. Can anybody who knows him please do so for me? Thanks.

+ Parts 1 and 2 of the manga, Eerie Queerie. + Tank Girl, Birds of a Feather and Two Pints of Lager on DVD. + a 5 6 7 8s album. + A few vintage t-shirts + A porno T-shirt + Several postcards (One of Madonna inpersonating Courtney Love, one of a box of Indian fireworks from the 60s, one called 'attack of the 600ft crying puppy from beyond space', a Diesel jeans postcard of two gay sailors kissing, a picture of a woman snorting diamonds and a vintage 'Gee, this town (LA) is so plastic and fake, like me!' Barbie psotcard'. + Books (Scarlett {sequel to Gone With the Wind}, Eeyore's Book of Gloom and The Virgin Suicides) + Eyeliner + 60 Marlboros and 10 Lucky Strikes + Lottery ticket x1 + Tons of food (honestly, I eat LOADS when I go shopping.) + And I managed to steal a Green Day psoter for the American Idiot album, right off the wall in Crash Records! + Sheesha (apple flavour).

Nine Days - Absolutely |
] |
This week has been so fun. julietlovestory came up and stayed for six nights. It was not only fun, but highly rewarding for a few, namely me, Jools herself, Tom, and Jon. I feel like Austen's Emma - getting people together all the time and totally abandoning my own. High/amusing points this week:
+ Getting Tom and Juliet to go out.
+ Getting drunk on less than one bottle of Lambrini.
+ Taking a picture of Steph being jungled with grass.
+ Getting a new job (start on Monday - hurrah!! I have to design birthday cards!)
+ Going with Nick
+ Listening to Nine Days (Absolutely is a great song - get it!)
+ Seeing a car with the license plate saying 'EMO'
+ Going to the CAB and getting my debt sorted out.
+ HAIR STRAIGHTENERS! How I have lived without these marvels of technology for the last eighteen years is beyond me. My hair looks ten times better when straight, and I got checked out like three times when I briefly went into the only gay bar in Keighley.)
low points of the week:
+ Going to Rick's house.
+ Lack of moneyage.
+ Slight lack of cigarettes (although we actually had them in abundance at the start of the week.)
+ BAD WEED. (I have never felt more paranoid in my life. I had one joint at Rick's house and I felt really freaked out.)
Soooo, all in all, good. Juliet got on her coach at 12:50 today and is currently still on it, probably somewhere in the lower midlands. It was sad to see her go, she's like my best friend. Or one of three: Rachel, Jools and (well, one of these is debatable) Jon/Steph. ANYWAY. tom+jools<3tom+jools<3tom+jools<3 ps: hi Amy, you were here in spirit/voice but I never spoke to you.

www.fatchicksinpartyhats.com this website totally disgusts me. How can somebody make a website about 'fat chicks' and make fun, and not feel guilty? People are still people, overweight or not. It disgusts me how much size-ism exists in our society today, for both overweight and underweight people. There is no 'perfect' shape, you should stick to the body you are most comfortable in.

I have decided that, where ever I am living on October 31st, I am having a Halloween party. I've never had one before, so I want to make it good.
I'm thinking about going as Sora from Kingdom Hearts, when he goes into Halloween Town from the Nightmare Before Christmas.( pic here )
But, if I did go as Sora, I need some help. Where could I get hold of hair gel strong enough for that style? And who will do it for me? And how will I do the whole blue eyes thing? And where the hell am I supposed to get a Keyblade sword from (or, how do I make one?)
Comments welcomed and wanted.
Also, I think I have decided what to do about education, once and for all. This year, I will retake GCSEs in French and Biology and will get B grades or above. Then next year, I will fast-track two A-levels in one year (French and probably something shit and easy like Media or Film Studies), and after that I can go to university when I am 20 to study Japanese. Japanese ahs been my long-term dream for ages, but I put it on a back shelf when I failed GCSE French.

Okay, so. I have been told to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau before the closing date on my 02 bill. They will arrange a Credit Payment plan for me, where I can pay it off at like £5 a month until I get a job. Speaking of jobs, I have again trudged all around town asking for vacancies; filled out endless forms; and actually had an interview. Yes, an interview. Another one for the list, then. This one is for a cleaning job at Fitness First gym. It's high paid (£6 per hour); no uniform except for a FF polo shirt; and of course, I get free gym membership, and discounted to friends and family. Gosh. I hope I get this. It will be so much fun. Well, it would be fun, except for the fact that my worst enemy, Burridge, works there, and will be demanding the 83p back I owe him. I will give him it in pennies to amuse myself and to piss him off.
Anyway, blah to boring financial situations; because whatiloved is moving to Leeds! yay! Hopefully moving in avec moi, but the Uni Halls if not. Doesn't really matter either way, really, but it would be so cool to live together. She is funnier than Jo Brand with an autocue card.
Ooh, yay! I finally completed Kingdom Hearts last night. I totally recommend it to anybody. It's a Squaresoft/Disney RPG game for the ps2. Totally, totally, awesomely addictive. This coming from me, the hater of all things technological. ((sora, the main character, is tottttttally hot. miow!))
Another thing I also highly recommend is that you check my Amazon wishlist. For no reason really, just have a credit card ready. ;)

I'm finding fate really very odd at the moment. Loads of strange and unexpected stuff has been happening. For instance: 1) Jon has bought me a ticket to go to Leeds Festival, and doesn't want paying back. 2) I'm constantly finding these old movies and CDs I had when I was a kid. Clueless, for example, holds loads of memories for me of being ten years old.
Oh christ, there are some more, but I don't want to go into them. I'm a little freaked out at how smoothly everything is going, though. Usually my life is full of ups and downs. I hope this good luck continues and I get the job as the office junior I applied for. If not, I'll have to apply at Starbucks, and I don't really want to do that. I do need a job, though, because I'm moing out in four weeks with Juliet. Crap. I need money.
